Lakeshouse first appeared on Paper in 2019, continuing a rich lineage of wonky Norwegian disco. We believed they were worthy successors to carry the torch on from the likes of Todd Terje and Lindstrøm. With Ubegrensa Harmoni, the first single from their forthcoming debut album, they have delivered on that promise. The original straddles disco, house and pop for a track that will be equally at home on daytime BBC 6 Music or a packed-to-the-gills festival dance tent. Nagging synth bells, NRG bass, vocoder vocal and an arrangement that works the dynamics mean this is set to become the sound of summer 25. Move over Inspector Norse, theres a new kid in town. Ben Davis and Tom Lonsborough AKA Flash Atkins and 2 Billion Beats flex their production muscles with two different remixes and sounds. Their disco mix does what it says on the tin; keeping the hooky bells and upping the groove with added lush strings, pads, and a gorgeous, cosmic synth finale. The stripped-back Flash Beats remix delves in to the other side of club culture. A broken beat, heavy synths, fifth pad, and the ubiquitous bells channel Joy Orbison, Overmono, and UK bass music for a banger that is the sound of now.
PIV Records proudly presents the latest collaboration between Kyle Walker and Murphys Law, a groove-driven house cut infused with the soul of 90s hip-hop. Built around a nostalgic sax sample and elevated by Murphys Laws signature vocal work, the track strikes a perfect balance between deep and dynamic. Label boss Prunk steps in with his own remix, adding his signature touch to round out a release thats set to make waves on the dancefloor.
The Vendetta Suite is back to light up the early part of 2025 with a brilliant brace of singles on Hell Yeah. We've often referred to The Vendetta Suite as Belfast's best kept secret, but with the quality music he keeps releasing he is rightly picking up ever more of a profile. The Hell Yeah regular has long been a key part of his native Northern Irish scene thanks to the way he mixes genres; ambient, post-rave Balearic, dub and acid house all in the mix with his own unique psychedelic magic. First up is The Jam Answer, which taps into plenty of classic sounds but reinvents them for modern dancefloors. Bendy acid lines weave in between the dusty analogue drums, familiar acid house vocal samples and fizzing chord stabs bring the heat before a cosmic synth lead sings out with sunny soul. Island Hill Microdot channels dreamy Chicago house, the futuristic styles of IDM with the blissed out warmth of Balearic. Two very different but equally effective cuts from The Vendetta Suite.
Youre not supposed to choose favorites, but Smalltown DJs return to Dirtybird with Only You, a song were trying really hard not to use the f word for. The guys created something that hits on all levels - a beautifully crafted piece of music filled with emotion and an equal amount of energy that is really special.
Dust & Lusts love of garage edged house music is no secret and again he delivers a cool take on that vibe with Dont You. Skippy percussion and drums, deep bass and punchy chord hits combine with a slick little vocal hook to provide us with a simple funky houser. As is often the case with house music, its not how much is in the track, but often how much is deliberately left out and Dont You has all the right ingredients without any of the over hyped drops, and over-used noise, preferring to do its damage based on the groove. We dig it!!!

Facta and K-LONEs Wisdom Teeth imprint returns to the V/A format with Pattern Gardening - a substantial new collaborative project that leans head-first into the labels love of minimal-, micro- and tech-house. Across 22 original commissions, the record carves out the labels distinct, contemporary take on the sound - one that swims between warm, bleepy, rolling, dubby, psychedelic and bass-heavy channels across its duration. Contributors include Polygonia, rRoxymore, Lurka, Piezo, Daisy Moon, Facta, K-LONE and more. By now, Wisdom Teeth and its founders are well known for their unabashed love of minimal and tech house, which - alongside ambient, UK club music, experimental electronics and a broad palette of other influences - makes up a key cornerstone of their distinctive sound. The duos DJ sets often see them mixing 00s gems from labels like Perlon, Mosaic, Minibar and [a:rpia:r] with more contemporary club sounds, creating a hybrid style that sits somewhere between Balearic terraces and dark UK club basements. Likewise, the label has become known as a go-to outlet for artists occupying a similar crossover space, with names like Jorg Kuning, Parris, Steevio, Duckett, Leif and LUXE all known for pushing house and techno into experimental and refreshing new territories. Pattern Gardening follows loosely on from the labels previous V/A releases To Illustrate (2021) and Club Moss (2023), which explored downtempo (100bpm) and uptempo (150-170bpm) styles respectively. Here, the focus is fixed on lush, groovy, quirky 4x4 jams, joining the dots between a global spread of producers that bring new energy and perspective to these well-explored frameworks. The record welcomes back a number of historic label favourites - Lurka, Piezo, Duckett, Iglew, Shielding and label heads Facta & K-LONE - whilst introducing a number of exciting new names to the roster. Veterans like Tom Ellis and Jichael Mackson rub shoulders with relative newcomers like Kaishandao, Abentis and A. Wild. Across its duration, the record moves from melodic psychedelia (Polygonia, rRoxymore, FTP Doctor & Tenzia) through percussive groovers (Sub Basics, Brainrot, Saudade) and bassy rollers (Daisy Moon, B. McQueen & Theorist) before unspooling into an early-hours, dubbed-out haze (Duckett, Shielding). As is always the case with Wisdom Teeths output, the results fit somewhere between the club and a more contemplative, home-listening headspace, with texture, melody and mood afforded as much significance as rhythm and functionality. The artwork features photography by Hong Kong-based photographer Jimi Chiu, who captures seemingly ordinary corners of city life in glossy, cinematic detail.

Sleep Ds latest offering, Big Sky, Liquid Sun is a 4-track sonic odyssey from the sacred to the seismic, inspired by the duos deepened connection to the natural world and their surroundings. The opener Green Thumbs introduces the EP with what feels like divine invocation, built on expansive string refrains and an enveloping vocal choir. They dialogue with a warm bassline, whose resonance is a sermon on the power of low-end evangelism. Patient and deliberate, the track weaves in high-end synth flutters and a trance-gated vocal that hide-and-seek before the kick arrives, solidifying its pull with surging breakbeat. Mountain Ash flips the tone, grounding itself in a steady, driving techno beat. An arpeggiated synth-line ripples through spatialised percussion, evoking ascent -- each beat a step higher. Acheron Cauldron is the EPs peak, with amplified energy erupting in volcanic climax. At top the sonic crater, the relentless and unruly kick dominates, while a pulsating bassline bifurcates -- one part undulating and low, the other resonant and sharp. Foreground whispers add an eerie thrill, making the track a potent, analeptic weapon. To close the EP, Magma Flow slows into a trance-inducing finale. Repetitive synth-lines create a sense of dreamy and languid reflection, like watching molten lava slowly cascade. True to Big Sky, Liquid Sun, Magma Flow keeps melody at its core, closing with vocals and synths that linger in a hanging farewell. The journey is complete.

Following on from his debut LP on the imprint, Leyo makes a welcome return to Cécille with his Circus EP, featuring collaborations with fellow label artist Easttown and vocalist Thierry Ganz. In September of 2023 Dutch artist Leyo stormed onto the scene with his widely beloved Hello LP, a project employing a depth of influences and straddling the lines throughout between soulful electro-pop and funk-infused disco jams, through to more raw house and sun drenched lounge cuts. Here returning with a fresh five- track EP, Leyo predominantly sonically leans into House music in its purest form. Opening the EP is Circus feat. Easttown & Thierry Ganz, laid out across five and a half minutes with organic percussion, bulbous sub bass tones, spares sweeps and looped vocal chants. Hypnotize follows next, laying down classic house tropes with bumpy bass stabs, swinging drums and choppy vocal lines throughout. Opening the B-Side is Visions ,embracing a more Disco House tinged aesthetic with funky guitar lines, delayed vocal murmurs, resonant swells and robust drums. The aptly title Sunrise then offers up a dreamy stripped-back aesthetic with delayed guitar licks, breathy voices and minimalistic percussion. Lastly to conclude the package as a digital bonus cut, Sweat leans back into the peak time with a French touch bass groove, dubbed out brass melodies, filter sweeps and a shuffled rhythm section.
