Following the conclusion of their malicious acts, the conquerors had grown fat upon the spoils of war. Through the great successes of their many campaigns they had accumulated plunder and tribute en-masse, and over the intervening years of peace it was their posession of these treasures rather than their martial prowess that had come to define them. As lords languished in their lavish villas their warriors lazed about untrained, themselves coming to pursue other avenues of work amidst the repulsively rich cities of their homelands. On the faraway frontier, famine swept the land as the produce of the conquered was callously shipped off to the imperial core. Among the downtrodden who clung to life upon the ruins of their razed land, discontentment brewed beneath the surface, unnoticed amidst the DECADENCE of those who ruled. While the people of the frontier gathered in the secret circles of their ancient faith, the provincial governors who ruled over them gathered their friends for festivals of consumption & vice. Thus it was that when the avatar of the conquered peoples vengeance was summoned upon the land, it was not noticed until the shipments of luxuries to the empires capital suddenly ceased, after which its fiery form appeared at dusk on the horizon. There, it burned with the promise of a novel consumption - one that would cleanse the land of those who had stripped it bare and return to the soil the spoils that the conquerors has so brazenly stolen. PAIMON returns to his solo alias with DECADENCE, his latest EP, which releases on EATBRAIN as one of the famed TEDDY KILLERZ delivers the spoils of his solo explorations in Neurofunk to the ears of the EATBRAIN horde. First came the blinding flash of light. Then came the mushroom cloud, and then finally came the sound-pressure wave which rippled across the already destroyed landscape like a featherduster on a high shelf. The citys remaining population took little notice of this event, save for the fact that the shockwave detached some of their limbs and disrupted the proceedings of their ongoing competition. Fortunately, the Undead Champions League had a procedure for such an event - competitors knocked off of gym equipment could resume their series of reps with no penalty, while those who experienced partial dismemberment would be repaired and given a 15-minute break to allow time for the proper reintegration of the limb. There was, after all, no worry for any lack of time. Many had passed in the initial attack years ago, but a select few who had been closest to the center of the blast had experienced a profound transformation in the instant that they were stripped of their flesh, as an extreme macrodose of radiation unlocked latent psionic energies in their brains. They were all who remained of what had once been the human race, and in their newfound forms, they continued to find joy as they once had with tests of sportsmanship and skill now unbound by the evils of musculature and the lactic acid it produced. Undead Championship League matches could last for weeks, and as competitor #38 counted his 89,072nd pull-up on the high bar, the skeletal forms of the survivors erupted into a rattling chatter of cheers - a new world record of psionic power & mental fortitude had just been reached! NAIS returns to EATBRAIN with PULL UP, flexing his sound design muscles to present an impressive display of four-neurofunk sequences sure to inspire fervent dancefloor workouts for the fleshy bodies of the EATBRAIN horde. After consuming the primeval energies of an entire planetoid, the gargantuan interstellar being had wandered the stars for a time. At its core churned the life forces of one trillion beings, subsumed and intertwined by the nature of its interdimensional existence. The singularity of consciousness that lay at its core was thus one of cacophony & discord, as those of strongest will that still clung to some faint inkling of individuality sought to exert their influence over all others, pushing upwards amidst the maddening din of psychic energy and drowning those beneath them in turn. In willful ignorance of the chaos that churned within it, the great being had come to rest in the orbit of a distant star, beginning a hibernation that would last for eons as the life that raged within began to slowly seep to the surface. Thus came new life upon the surface of the beings slumbering body, born from the original images of all that which the behemoth had consumed and wrought into entirely new forms by the crucible at its core. In an age to come, the being would wake again, consuming the distant ancestors of the life that it had now born into existence. For the current age, its duty had been fulfilled - the cycle of DIVERGENCE had been carried out once more. EATBRAIN unveils DIVERGENCE VI, the latest entry in the labels compilation series which celebrates the diverse and devastating breadth of their artists sound. Packed with a no less than 38 works from the veteran leaders and fervent newcomers of the labels monstrous horde, DIVERGENCE VI displays the power of EATBRAIN at its fullest extent. Long forgotten amidst the cragged slope of a dormant volcano, the ruins of an ancient temple stood firm in silent reverence. A millennia of lava flows had reforged its walls time and time again, warping the structures dimensions each time as stone was birthed and culled by the forces that were its primordial progenitor. For thousands of years this cycle had raged at the edges of the temple compound, and yet for thousands of years one singular structure had remained - the great bronze idol of the temples forgotten patron deity, untouched by the tongues of raging flame. There had been no true supplicants for hundreds of years, and only a scant few visitors had ever braved the rigorous journey along the obsidian-clad spines that lay below the temple even to simply gaze upon its ruined form. Thus it was that when a lone traveler clad in orange robes entered the inner transept of the Temple, his bare feet bloodied from the pilgrimage, the long-smoldering flame of devotion roared to life behind the eyes of the great statue as the volcanic ground quivered expectantly beneath it. With ritual pilgrimage completed by this stranger, a new age could now begin. Under the Gydras watchful eye, the lava would run again. GYDRA make a triumphant return to EATBRAIN as they reignite the flame of LAVA RUN, delivering a VIP mix of the famed track to delight of the EATBRAIN hordes eager ears. Meanwhile, label boss JADE unveils JADE VENOM and adapts the serpentine qualities of his new alias to remix GYDRAs IKRA, perhaps the most storied track within the labels extensive catalog. Together, the pairing makes for a release of unstoppable power, celebrating all that is EATBRAIN from front to back. Written by Gwen Kubik
