Celebrating 10 years of Deep, Dark & Dangerous: Decade. A specially curated collection of tunes that encapsulates everything we love about our label and the community weve built around it. TRUTH has always lived and breathed music that is deeper, darker and dangerouser but we could never have dreamed of where the imprint is at now, through pure passion for and dedication to sound system culture. What started as monthly Monday night in a 100 person capacity San Francisco basement in 2012, leading to our first release in November 2014 - Deep, Dark & Dangerous takes huge pride in representing the best of dubstep, 140 and bass music in a catalogue approaching 140 releases. This celebration compilation of DDDs first decade as an imprint is all about looking forward. Through an epic double album of original tracks, this is the cream of the crop - featuring our favourite big hitters and some of the hottest young talent in the underground. Decade showcases the best of where were at but also what the future holds for the scene we call home. Heres to the next decade.

The opening track in many a TRUTH set, including their epic 2024 Red Rocks performance. The Illuminated starts of emotively uplifting, with granulated choir and strings... followed by an ultra-subby drop into low deep bass frequencies... punctuated by brutal techno-influenced stabs. Buckle up for the distorted square wave switch up which fuses with a UKG beat for an additional energy boost on the second drop! Since we think this is the perfect set opener, we have made The Illuminated the opening track of Decade the album to celebrate 10 years of Deep, Dark & Dangerous. A forward-looking album, absolutely full of A++ level tracks from across the Deep, Dark & Dangerous spectrum!
The Awakening of SIBU is the debut album by Costa Rican artist JLEON. It reimagines the events of the moment Spanish colonizers discovered Costa Rica and encountered the native peoples. SIBU is one of many local names for God among the local tribes. In this tale, SIBU takes the form of a gigantic octopus, who brings an army from another dimension to see the Spanish conquistidores off and save the Costa Rican people. Set over 16 tracks, the album is an epic piece of work, showcasing JLEONs work and style across the 140bpm spectrum.
Blistering on to the scene with a debut release like no other comes Combine, with five searing hot slices of bass-music badness. When asked about the release Combines response: my intention was to make bangers sums things up perfectly. Bangers aplenty inside. The EP has been featured on two UKF mixes, and a slew of DJ support!
Two of the hottest talents in New Zealands bass scene combine in devastating fashion on 233, a tune so moody it makes Azealia Banks 212 sound more like Dolly Partons 9 to 5. Dark cinematic soundscapes are interrupted by the sub-driven force of Paige Julias beats so sick, they make you iller than getting locked up in an ice cold chiller as fire MC Talis flow and lyricism takes centre stage. The dynamite vocalist is someone DDD founders Truth have long admired, with the duo promoting her when they used to throw drum & bass shows way back in 2005 when she was signed to Roni Sizes Full Cycle Records in Bristol, UK. Welcoming Tali to the label for the first time is a full cycle moment itself, and the results are seismic as the MC sprays molten lava got no time for patriarchy, so dont fuck with me and my privacy - with Paige Julias ice cold production the perfect bedrock. Snakes better watch their throats, Paige Julia and Tali arent in the mood to play nice.
Sling Wave pressed the War Dub nuclear button with Jabba Jaws. Smart move? Well let you decide. Brave enough to call out ENiGMA Dubz, the young producer got served up the ultimate bass fuelled slapdown: Jabba Wars. After the dub took off on ENiGMA Dubz SoundCloud, DDD had to release it - especially as the pair are both appearing at the labels flagship Mission Ballroom show in September. Flipping the original into a filthy broken beat slice of UK Bass - the tracks violent synthlines, monstrous subs and weighty kicks seeks to destroy anything within a 100 mile radius. Civilisation has just been put in jeopardy.. Jabba Wars is our new normal.
Dubsteps man of the moment is back on DDD with an absolute stomper - No Mercy. Showing absolutely no remorse for systems and the general public alike, the Canadian producers latest offering is set to bring the party wherever its unleashed. The drop is so infectious its likely to induce the next pandemic, as a trombone style bass collides with thumping kicks and a potent snare that doubles up as a slap around the chops. Already causing havoc in the underground, Distinct Motive is not in the mood for pleasantries. No mercy, ever.
One of DDD's most prolific talents Hypho teams up with UK don MC Illaman for this ice-cold lyrical 140 banger, Slum. With a backbeat that snaps harder than a pool of piranhas and an atmosphere like the dark side of the moon, the Manchester producer creates the ideal soundboard for Illaman to spit fire showcasing exactly why he is considered one of London's hottest vocal talents. Witty wordplay and savage put downs in the verses are traded for sinister hooks and memorable refrains - all executed with a dynamite flow. 'This is a different calibre.' Come get it.
