NameBrandSound is the brainchild of CoOp Presents label heads Alex Phountzi & IG Culture; two pioneers of the bruk movement whove been shaping the sound for decades under various aliases. With a deep legacy in the scene, the duo also hold down a must-listen weekly show on Rinse FM, and count tastemakers like BBCs Gilles Peterson and Jamz Supernova amongst their loyal supporters. Guest vocalist Reek0 is an MC, artist and producer known for being a part of the Brighter Days Family, along with the likes of IZCO. Growing up as a young boy in Tottenham, Reek0 finds himself flipping the switch, expressing those conversational narratives of lifes endeavours; raw and honest, yet a melodic and imaginative wordsmith. Combining his intricately interwoven bars with an effortless flow, his refreshing presence and his insatiable curiosity leads him to explore new territories, touching hearts and captivating souls with every beat. Tek 2 Skank is an absolute bubbler with resplendently skippy drums and the warmest of basslines, whilst Head Down is a little tougher, with dubbed-out stabs and earth-shattering subs. Simply put, these are two cuts destined to be rinsed by discerning selectors all Summer long and beyond. The second oneshot release from the CoOp Presents label for 2025, this one courtesy of Donsurf and Oliver Night on a North/South clash called Lickshot. East Londons Oliver Night has established himself as a prominent talent in the bruk world as a DJ, vocalist, producer and songwriter. In addition to his own productions, hes collaborated with artists such as Bel Cobain, Jay Phelps, BB James, Inkswel, Jimpster, IG Culture, Quiet Dawn & Heartless Crews Mighty Moe. Originally a member of Roots Manuvas Banana Klan, hes played at various venues across the capital, from the Tate Modern to Boiler Room, as well as on air at Worldwide FM and Rinse FM. Previous support has come via selectors such as Tony Humphries, Honey Dijon, Kerri Chandler, Jazzie B, Gilles Peterson, Kid Fonque, Rainer Trueby, Jamz Supernova & Seth Troxler, as well as press from the likes of Bolting Bits and Music Is My Sanctuary. Donsurf is a producer and DJ originally from Manchester, currently residing in Leeds. Hes had past releases with labels such as Dance Regular, Ec2a and Kultura Collective, along with a string of self-released killer edits. With a popular monthly show on Rinse FM, his selections draw from a wide range of funk, jazz, house and garage, combining the soulful with the dark, predominantly centering himself with explorations of all corners of bruk boogie. His own productions have again had support from the likes of IZCO and the Brighter Days Family, BBC 6 Musics Jamz Supernova and, of course, the CoOp Presents crew; previously appearing on the label with a remix for Oliver Nights collaboration with Bel Cobain, Blame Game. Lickshot is rough and tough. The certified duttiest of bruk riddims, sure to cause pure murderation in any dance. Solid bassweight and pure soundsystem ethics from the edge, to the very last drop.
