Clubsonica Records opens the month of March by presenting a collaborative project from JFR and Lucas Zárate. Hailing from Argentina but currently calling Spain home, Juan Franco Rivero aka JFR has carved out a unique sonic identity in the world of progressive and organic house, resulting in a string of uniquely crafted records that present a resonant worldly sound. Releases via All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, Musique de Lune, and his own Secret Feelings imprint have been instrumental in showcasing the Barcelonas residents borderless approach to production, in turn garnering support from Lee Burridge, Sebastien Leger and Nick Warren, amongst others. Meanwhile, also hailing from Argentina, Lucas Zárate has enjoyed similar success since first emerging in 2022. Much like JFR, Lucas would find a cohesive balance between progressive and organic house, an amalgamation of sound which would earn him the praise of Gorje Hewek, Modd and Nick Warren, while also highlighting his resume with offerings via Melody of the Soul, Peace Symphonies and Songuara. Having also recorded a four-track artist showcase for JFRs Secret Feelings, the duo now combines their extensive forces for Clubsonica and their collaborative debut Siamba | Sambuka, alongside a remix from Matthew Sona. Beginning with the colourful monochromes of Siamba, the duo continues to explore the groovy organic blueprints from which they have made their names on. A DJ friendly intro sets the pace for swing heavy rhythms and panoramic melodies to layer a warm, chunky bassline. Carving out a fluid path into the break, anticipation is high as balmy atmospherics and exotic synth cascades highlight a well-crafted interlude, building melodic tension throughout, before a cosmic crescendo reveals an epic finale complete with shapeshifting synth lines and subversive chord changes. Beneath the utopian qualities of Siamba lies the equally intriguing vibes of Sambuka. JFR and Lucas expound their organic vision here, with alluring rhythms and hyperspace effects blanketing warm beats and precise percussive arrangements. Clever textural co-actions marry with wavy melodies, evolving with each successive pass, while a hypnotic break complete with deconstructed vocal samples and soulful musicality preludes an inventive finale. The release concludes with Matthew Sona making his label debut with the lone interpretation of Siamba. Hailing from Hungary, Matthew Sona has found a way to create his own personal universe by exploring organic sounds and ultimately finding a place in the trend-driven state of underground dance music at a remarkably young age. With a contribution to Zenebonas Various Artists Sampler in 2023 marking his production debut, the Budapest resident would go on to forge a strong creative partnership with the label, recording four additional projects across the next calendar year, in addition to an impressive debut on Nick Warrens The Soundgarden. With Eelke Kleijn and Hernan Cattaneo also being supporters of Matthews work, the Hungarian continues to carve out his own path into 2025, making his Clubsonica debut with an excellent interpretation of Siamba. Bringing a contemporary state of mind, Matthew reassembles the themes from the original for his own uniquely energetic approach. An artist with a long, rich and varied history with Proton, Erdi Irmak has always been at the vanguard of the organica sound. Now he returns to the flagship label with a brand-new original track in Nightwalker. Over 70 production credits span the Erdi Irmak portfolio on both the Particles and Proton Music labels, a 2013 debut on the former quickly leading to the high watermark, Youre Either Guilty or Not Guilty full-length album a year later. The You in Me and Night EPs opened the Turkish artists account on Proton Music, before the Hidden Arcadia series quickly found its feet. 7 volumes later and a veritable smorgasbord of stunning original material and high-class remixes from the likes of Amháin, Rauschhaus and Nōpi, has seen Erdi form a special and organic relationship with the label as his music and production techniques have evolved over a 4-year period since Hidden Arcadia, Vol. 1 debuted in late 2018. Now returning with the smooth sounds of Nightwalker, a deep and rolling percussive groove sits perfectly alongside a bassline full of subtle vibrancy. Female vocal cuts create a dancefloor energy as they add to the layered-groove effect while an analogue lead line creates a new and emotive direction at the breakdown. Extending into the second half, the return of familiar rhythmic components and cadenced vocals create another stunning track. Adding to the EP, a delicate 2024 Retouch of a pair of tracks from the Hidden Arcadia series supply another classy touch. From Vol. 2 a new version of Echoes in Time extends the rhythmic poise of the original while further developing the central melodic themes of the original. Additional vocal touches and a deep, smooth vibe create a perfect reworking a track and demonstrate how far Erdis production skills have developed. Similarly, Vol. 4s The Floating Bridge of Heaven is another deep organic house interpretation that is centred around a silky rolling groove and meandering melodic flow. Retaining the central melodic ideas, counterpoint phrases and more uptempo vibe, generate a dancefloor friendly track that is perfect for Ibiza sunsets and sun-kissed terraces.
